CARLYLE, Barbara Dawne (nee Gibson)
May 31, 1950 – November 21, 2018

On November 21, 2018, after a long series of illnesses, Dawne Carlyle of Edmonton, AB, passed away peacefully at age 68 years, in the University of Alberta Hospital ICU with members of her family at her side.
Born and raised in Edmonton, to William and Edith Gibson, the youngest of six children, she was predeceased by her father (2005) and mother (2017), brothers, Bobbie (1948) and William Jr. (Bill) (2009). Dawne is survived by her siblings, Beverley, Linda, and Brian; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and one aunt, Connie Storrier.
On May 23, 1970, Dawne married Terry D. Carlyle in Edmonton where they lived after and later living in Grande Prairie and Winnipeg. During the early years of their marriage, sons, Geoffrey (1973) and Cameron (1976); and daughter, Kristy (1979) were born. While raising her three children Dawne also contributed greatly to helping her husband in his new orthodontic practice in south Edmonton.
Upon returning to Edmonton, in 1978, they lived in Sherwood Park and since 1981 resided in Riverbend, in southwest Edmonton. During this time, Dawne participated in many community and school activities, while raising the children. A proud parent and grand parent of Geoffrey and Mary Lou (Jackson, Ava, James) and Cameron and Tammy (Zoe, Sam) and Kristy and Kyle Heide (Cash), she loved her children and grandchildren so much. Dogs were also a big part of Dawne’s life. When the opportunity allowed, Dawne loved cruises with husband Terry and friends.
Special thanks to the U of A Hospital ICU team lead by Dr. Dean Karvellas and the other MDs, the nursing team, especially Nurse Hannah C., who was so kind to Dawne on her last day. The Carlyle family cannot thank the ICU team enough for the care, compassion and understanding they provided for Dawne on her journey.
Cremation will be provided by Park Memorial Edmonton and a private family inurnment later will occur in the Holy Cross Mausoleum. A Celebration of Life will occur in spring 2019. In lieu of flowers, Dawne’s wishes were to have any donations made to the Edmonton Humane Society.
